FUTURMODA, the Spanish Leather and Footwear Exhibition, is Spain's oldest and most influential exhibition for footwear and leather goods. Although leather and footwear materials have a long history, a truly complete supporting industry has not yet been formed. Currently, 80% of the upstream materials for shoemaking still rely on imports. Apart from factory buildings and utilities for general shoe factories, other materials such as leather, machinery, and sewing machines seem to be imported.
The previous edition of FUTURMODA covered 20,000 square meters, with 385 exhibitors from China, South Korea, the United States, Argentina, Iran, Dubai, Hong Kong, Italy, Russia, and Turkey, and 12,900 visitors.
