What You’ll Need
Graphtec blade holder
Blade (e.g., CB09U, CB15U, etc.)
Small Phillips screwdriver (if needed for pressure adjustment)
Cutting strip in good condition
Test vinyl or paper for calibration
1. Install the Blade into the Holder
Unscrew the cap on top of the blade holder (turn counterclockwise).
Insert the blade (sharp tip first) into the bottom hole of the holder.
It should slide in freely until the magnet or spring holds it in place.
Replace the cap and screw it back on.
Adjust the blade extension:
Turn the top cap clockwise to reduce blade exposure.
Turn it counterclockwise to increase exposure.
Blade tip rule of thumb:
You should barely see or feel the blade tip extending — roughly the thickness of a sheet of paper (0.3 mm or less).
2. Install the Blade Holder into the Cutter
Locate the tool carriage on the cutter head.
Open the locking lever or clamp (on most Graphtec models, it’s a small lever or screw).
Insert the blade holder into the clamp:
The metal tip faces down, and the cable side (if any) faces away from you.
Make sure the holder is seated straight and firmly.
Lock the carriage lever to secure it in place.
3. Set the Cutting Force & Test Cut
On the cutter’s control panel, go to [MENU] → Test Cut.
Start with a low cutting force, e.g.,:
Graphtec CE7000: 8–10 gf for thin vinyl
FC9000: 10–14 gf for thicker vinyl
Run a test cut (small triangle or square).
Check the results:
The vinyl should weed easily, and the backing paper should not be cut through.
If it doesn’t cut enough → increase force slightly (2–3 gf at a time).
If it cuts too deep → reduce force or retract the blade slightly.
4. Fine-Tune Blade Depth (Optional)
If test cuts are inconsistent:
Adjust blade tip length first (physical adjustment).
Only then fine-tune cutting force from the control panel.
Avoid compensating too much with pressure — too much force can wear out the blade or damage the cutting strip.
Final Check
Blade spins freely when you move it gently with your finger.
Holder is tight and doesn’t wobble in the carriage.
Test cuts are clean and easy to weed.
